Europe imports record volumes of LNG

Flows of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from European terminals into the EU gas transportation system in 2023 were a record high for the entire period of observation and exceeded 131 billion cubic meters, Gas Infrastructure Europe said, Report informs via TASS.

LNG flows from terminals into the European gas transmission system decreased in December after increasing the month before. At the end of December, they amounted to 11.36 billion cubic meters, being 4% lower than in November and 6% less year-on-year. This figure was the second record for December in history. The previous high was set in December 2022.

In total, in 2023, LNG flows from terminals into the European gas transportation system amounted to about 131.22 billion cubic meters – 1.9% more year-on-year. Thus, imports of LNG by European countries last year became a record high over the entire period of observation.
