The navigation in the Dardanelles Strait was suspended on Saturday morning due to fog, said the Department of Navigation Control in the strait connecting the Aegean Sea with the Sea of Marmara and through the Bosphorus with the Black Sea.
“Navigation in the Dardanelles has been suspended in both directions. All ships following from the north and south into the strait have been warned about this. Navigation will be resumed after the fog clears,” the message says.
An average of over 100 ships pass through the Dardanelles per day.
