“The Port of Baku plays a big role in the main corridors of the region”, stated the International Financial Cooperation’s officials in today’s meeting at the Port of Baku

The IFC delegation led by Ms. Aliya Azimova, the IFC Country Representative for Azerbaijan had an official visit to the Port of Baku on 16 May 2022. The purpose of the visit was to deepen their dialogue to explore future opportunities to ensure the IFC’s support to infrastructure development, given the growing role of the private sector in investment projects on a global scale and in the ongoing development processes in Azerbaijan.

The guests were welcomed by Mr Sohrab Ismayilov, Deputy Director of the Port of Baku, and the guests were introduced to the current transportation capacity of the port and the future perspectives for public-private partnership in the port’s development plans.

During the meeting strategic views on the implementing the public-private partnership projects to manage the port operations more effectively, as well as development of new port infrastructures were discussed. Both organizations expressed their strong interests in strengthening cooperation in sustainable development initiatives that will impact the future economy of the region.
