Baku port: Cargo handling in Kazakhstan direction steadily growing

There is a sharp increase in cargo handling in the direction of Kazakhstan in the Baku port, head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Development of the Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC Khudayar Hasanli said, Report informs.

He noted that the growth rate of cargo handling of wagons in this direction has tripled: “At the same time, TIR cargo handling in the Kazakhstan direction has doubled. About 5,000 TEU containers were shipped in four months of 2021, and 10,000 containers in four months of 2022.”

The Baku International Sea Trade Port, which is an integral part of Azerbaijan’s strategy to become an important transport and logistics center of the region, located at the intersection of the East-West and North-South transport corridors, plays a decisive role in expanding the country’s transit capabilities. The cargo handling capacity of the port is 15 million tons, including 100,000 containers per year.
