Turkey preparing to start laying gas pipeline to Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan

Turkey and Azerbaijan are preparing to start laying a gas pipeline to Nakhchivan (a landlocked exclave of Azerbaijan), Report informs, citing an interview of the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez with Anadolu News Agency.

The Turkish minister noted that he had already signed a memorandum of understanding with his Azerbaijani counterpart:

“We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov. We are waiting for confirmation of some technical data by Azerbaijan. As soon as these data are confirmed, we will start laying the gas pipeline.

Preparatory work, such as routing, research, has been completed.

We are implementing a joint project. Some technical information must be transferred to us.

As soon as the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) provides this information, we will begin work,” Fatih Dönmez said.
