BP Provides 81.7% of Total Gas Production in Azerbaijan – Ministry of Energy

Gas production in Azerbaijan in January-May 2020 amounted to 16.4 billion cubic meters, an increase of 13.6% compared to the same period last year, the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry said.

At the same time, 8 bcm of natural gas was produced from the Shah-Deniz field (BP operator), 5.4 bcm of associated gas was produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli block (BP operator), and another 3 bcm – from the rest of Azerbaijan’s fields of SOCAR and operating companies.

According to the Ministry of Energy, in the reporting period, gas exports from Azerbaijan amounted to 5.6 bcm (an increase of 13.4% from January-May 2019). At the same time, over 4.3 bcm was delivered to Turkey (an increase of 21.7%), 1.2 bcm – to Georgia, and 51 thousand cubic meters for pumping stations of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
The Ministry said that 295.2 bcm of gas (natural and associated) was produced from the ACG block and from the Shah Deniz field since the start of development, and 82.6 bcm was exported.
