Container turnover of the Caspian basin in April 2020: transshipment of loaded containers decreased

According to SeaNews PORTSTAT, an online analytical service, in April 2020, container traffic in the ports of the Caspian basin decreased by 2.4% compared to April last year. Positive dynamics is observed only in import (+ 85.5%), negative – in cabotage (-57.1%) and export (-26.8%).

The share of the Caspian basin in the total container turnover of all Russian seaports in April 2020 corresponded to 0.1%.

5.9% less containers were handled than in April 2019. There were no loaded refrigerated containers. 31.4% of loaded containers went through import, 6.3% through cabotage and 62.3% through export.

Transshipment of empty containers increased by 7.8%.

In April of this year, the port of Olya in the total container turnover of the Caspian basin was 59.3%, Astrakhan handled 40.7%.
