Iran has the capacity to increase the value of the export to Eurasian countries from current $1 billion to $10 billion, said the managing director of Aras Free Zone.
“There are capacities to develop cooperation with Eurasian countries, obtain access to railway transit corridor and play more active role in the International North–South Transport Corridor,” said Mohsen Nariman, Trend reports citing IRNA.
“The biggest greenhouse unit in the Middle East is located in our region, in the Aras Free Zone. All its products are exported to Russia, while there are 25 production units run through investments of foreign countries including Turkey and Azerbaijan,” Mohsen Nariman said.
“In past three and half months, after signing a preferential tariff agreement between Iran and member states of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the volume of Iran’s export through Nordooz border in the Aras Free Zone increased 100 percent, while in total, Iran’s export to Eurasian countries had 72-percent growth that is a good outlook,” the managing director said.
“Russia was both the major export destination for Iranian goods and the importer of goods to Iran. Around 70 percent of trade volume with EAEU countries account for Russia,” he added.
Iran and EAEU have concluded the agreement on preferential trade on 862 products. The agreement provides for tariff discounts in the trade between the EAEU member states and Iran.
