Farid Aliyev, employee of the Department of Occupational Safety and Ecology of the Caspian Sea Fleet of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC, took part in a seminar held in the People’s Republic of China.
The seminar, organized for developing countries, was dedicated to the issues of conducting geological exploration work at sea, environmental protection in the coastal zone and maintaining the ecological balance.
The workshop was conducted by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the People’s Republic of China, the State Geological Survey of China and the Center for Development and Research of this organization with financial support from the Ministry of Trade of the People’s Republic of China. The seminar consisted of three parts and was held in Beijing, Tianjin, and Qingdao, Shandong Province. During the seminar, professors, researchers and specialists from the aforementioned institutions delivered lectures on various topics. Also, the participants visited the relevant institutions, organizations and institutes. For the exchange of experience, representatives of the participating countries (Azerbaijan, Argentina, Cuba, Pakistan, Ghana, Marrakesh) made presentations in Qingdao and Tianjin.
In his speech, Farid Aliyev informed the seminar participants about the historical development of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company and the special role of the vessels of the ASCO specialized fleet in oil and gas production in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. He informed the participants that in the field of environmental protection, ASCO is guided by the requirements of the Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001: 2015, the international Marpol code 73-78 and the International Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention (ISM Code) of the International Maritime Organization. He also noted that one of the five areas of the Company’s policy is the Quality, Health, Labor Safety and Environmental Protection Policy.
