Gigantic iceberg with size of Wales breaks away from Antarctica

Scientists have informed that a breakdown of the gigantic part of the Larsen C glacier occurred in the west of Antarctica, as a result of which one of the greatest icebergs in history emerged, Report informs referring to BBC.

Its area is approximately 6,000 square kilometers which is compared to the area of Wales.

Scientists have been waiting for a breakdown of the gigantic iceberg for a long time. The rift was first noticed in 2011, and in 2014, it began to grow fast.

According to scientists, now, the rift is getting bigger in size; and flows and winds might take the split iceberg to the Atlantic ocean.
