The capacity of the Trans-Caspian international transport route will be increased three-fold.

During the 2nd Baku meeting of port-cities Baku, Aktau and Samsun of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking Countries Ahmed Mustafin, the executive director for commercial affairs of Aktau port, stated that the route is profitable for Azerbaijan.

“In the next 5-10 years we expect a 3-fold increase in cargo flow on via Trans-Caspian transport corridor. Kazakhstan is already taking steps in this direction. In particular, capacity of the Aktau port has been increased by 1/5 times, construction of new deep-sea port Kurykwas finished last year and due to that, time of cargo delivery to the port of Alyat will be reduced, and there are conditions for loading regardless of weather conditions,” Mustafin said.

He added that all the parties of the route, after it will run at full capacity, will receive not only economic, but also geopolitical advantage. Achievement of the set objectives will be possible as well due to the already approved competitive through fares to be applied along the route.
