Containers aboard the Singapore-flagged vessel “GFS Pride,” which sank in the Strait of Hormuz, are reported to possibly contain hazardous chemical substances.

Sea-news.az reports citing Al Jazeera, that this was announced by Omani authorities.

In an official statement, the Maritime Security Center of Oman noted that dangerous chemicals might be present inside the containers.

According to reports, the “GFS Pride” sustained damage on Wednesday following a projectile strike, catching fire before sinking off the coast of Oman.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has repeatedly warned ships against navigating the southern route near the coast of Oman, maintaining that it retains control over the Strait of Hormuz.
