On May 14, 2018, the opening ceremony of the Port of Baku took place in the Alat settlement with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. It should be noted that the transfer of the Port of Baku to the Alat settlement happened gradually, and the process of transferring the Ferry terminal began first in 2014. In May 2018, the construction of the Ro-Ro and General Cargo terminals was completed, effectively transforming the Port of Baku located in the Alat settlement into a important high-level transportation hub.
