The Iranian Parliament considers it necessary to close the Strait of Hormuz, the final decision must be approved by the National Security Council, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, Ismail Kousari, said, Report informs via Press TV.
“The parliament has concluded that the Strait of Hormuz should be closed, but the final decision on this matter will be made by the National Security Council,” Press TV quotes him as saying.
Earlier the Defense Ministry of Iran announced the possibility of closing the strait.
The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Iran is located in the north of the strait, while Oman and the UAE are in the south.
