In January-May 2025, the volume of cargo transported by sea in Azerbaijan amounted to 3,745,600 tons, 407,700 tons or 12.2% more than in the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
Some 47% of the cargo was oil cargo. Loading and unloading operations in the volume of 5,704,400 tons (+2.3) were carried out through seaports, and 4,663,500 tons (+10.4%) or 81.8% of the cargo were transit cargo.
As of June 1, the volume of cargo remaining in the ports was 220,100 tons. This is 60 tons or 21.4% less than in the same period last year.
In 2025, economic entities operating in the transport sector transported 96.8 million tons of cargo. Of this, 3.9% were transported by sea.
The number of passengers transported by this mode of transport in the specified period decreased by 500 people or 4.6% compared to the same period in 2024, to 10,400 people.
