Azerbaijan is set to refine legislative provisions concerning the classification of land designated for aquaculture, with amendments to the Land Code and the Law on Fishing currently under consideration.

According to Report, the proposed changes were reviewed during a session of the Milli Majlis Committee on Agrarian Policy.

The initiative follows a presidential decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on September 28, 2024, which approved new “Rules for the Classification of Land and Its Reassignment Between Categories.” Under clause 1.9 of the decree, land used for aquaculture purposes is exempt from the requirement for reclassification when utilized by aquaculture enterprises.
