China is working out the details of building a bridge over the Caspian Sea from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan. Although the details have not yet been announced, they want to implement the project soon, InAktau reports with reference to Tengrinews.kz .
According to the TV channel, currently the cargo flow from China to the European Union via the land corridor is 100 times less than by sea. At the same time, China directs its main investments in logistics to the “Burma corridor” – approximately 100 times more than it is ready to invest in the “Silk Road”.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan’s trade turnover with China has already exceeded $17 billion. According to China’s Consul General in Almaty Zhang Wei, the Chinese side will focus on developing infrastructure, in particular, the railway from Kazakhstan to the Chinese cities of Lianyungang, Urumqi, and Lanzhou.
