“Professor Gul” ferry vessel returns to operation after repair

The dock repair of the “Professor Gul” ferry vessel, owned by the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) has been completed.

The repair work was carried out at the Zıgh Ship Repair and Construction Yard.

Hull welding, automation, and piping works were carried out on the vessel, and various types of pumps were repaired. The underwater and above-water sections of the ferry were cleaned and repainted. Additionally, necessary work was carried out in the cabins to improve the living conditions of the crew.

Faulty communication and electro-radio navigation equipment on the vessel was also renewed. Furthermore, the ferry vessel was equipped with modern Inmarsat-C satellite communication terminals, medium and shortwave radio stations, stationary ultra-shortwave radio stations, an emergency radio beacon, emergency rescue radio stations and transmitters, an Automatic Identification System (AIS), a radar station, and a gyrocompass.

After the completion of the dock repair, the ferry vessel was returned to operation.

The “Professor Gul” ferry vessel has a length of 154.5 meters, a width of 18.3 meters, and a maximum speed of 15 knots.
