Last year, freight traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) amounted to 3.3 million tons of cargo, which is 21% more compared to 2023 and almost six times higher than the level of 2021, Alibi Tulegenov, deputy director of the Integrated Planning Directorate at JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, said in an interview with Report.

“The growth in volumes was ensured by an increase in Kazakh exports, which increased by 21% compared to 2023,” said Tulegenov.
He noted that the current capacity of the railway segment of the Trans-Caspian route is 6 million tons of cargo per year.
“We plan to increase this figure to 10 million tons per year through further development of railway and port infrastructure along the entire corridor,” said Tulegenov.
He added that 358 container trains were dispatched from China along the TITR route in 2024, which is 33 times more compared to 2023.
“For 2025, about 600 container trains are planned to be dispatched from China along the Middle Corridor, which indicates further growth and potential of this important transport route,” said Tulegenov.
