Azerbaijan to host next meeting of High-Level Working Group on Caspian Sea

The 6th meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea issues was held on September 11-13 in the city of Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, APA reports.

The meeting brought together delegations from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan.

Azerbaijan was represented by a delegation led by S. Sharifov.

The meeting was chaired by the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan M.G. Atajanov.

Parties discussed the provisions of the draft Agreement on the methodology of determining straight access lines in the Caspian Sea, and also agreed on a number of provisions of the project. The discussion of this document will be continued at the next meeting of High-Level Working Group on Caspian Sea issues.

The issues on preparation for the meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian states were also discussed during the meeting.

The delegations evaluated the results of the negotiations positively and expressed their gratitude to Turkmenistan for excellent organization of the meeting.

The next meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea will be held in Azerbaijan.
