Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer
Managing and leading teams. Providing discipline expertise to the business including Technical Authority responsibility where assigned. Executing assigned scopes of work. Delivering against contract KPI’s and business objectives. In conjunction with the Discipline Focal Point/Head of Discipline, manages succession planning for direct reports. Provides coaching and mentoring for direct reports. Actively supports recruitment, selection, transfers and promotion of resources to meet succession and business plans. Support the development and retention of motivated and competent people. Ensures competence of deputies. Manages performance of direct reports. Continuous promotion of and, adherence to the discipline specific Procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement. Support the development and delivery of Technical Assurance Framework. Participate in incident investigations as required. Represent WGPSN Discipline in the contract. Actively maintaining own competence and continuous development. Ensuring learning opportunities are captured and realised. Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation. Proficient in scope definition. Deputising for Focal Point/Head of Discipline as required.
Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities.
20+ yrs experience
MSc, MEng or equivalent professional qualification or BSc, B.Eng or equivalent with extensive relevant experience or Chartered Engineer or recognised equivalent.
General Mechanical Knowledge i.e. FINGLOW, AUTOCAD (this is not an exhaustive list). General Mechanical Functions i.e. Site survey and reporting, Preparation of mechanical documents and the ability to perform as dynamic Mechanical Package Engineer. Have knowledge, at various levels of expertise, of the following mechanicalequipment but also have a specialist knowledge of at least one type and developing specialist knowledge of another type. Must be able to demonstrate considerable experience and success as a package engineer. In addition have experience in leading mechanical teams or demonstrate the ability to do so having had considerable experience in a lead supporting role. Process, Machinery Drive, Machinery, Packed Equipment, Static Mechanical Equipment, General Materials, Metallurgy, Manufacture, HVAC Specialist Systems, Materials, Welding & Corrosion Specialist, Hazardous Area Equipment.
Intellectually capable, demonstrates the application of theory in a practical context.
Professional demeanour, interpersonal skills. Able to demonstrate a level of team working skills. Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn. Flexible with a can-do attitude.
