Baku Shipyard is pleased to announce the successful sea trials of Subsea Construction Vessel (SCV) named “Khankendi”, that is being constructed under Shah Deniz Stage 2 Project. The six week trials that took place in the Caspian Sea, truly represented the vessel’s initial voyage in open waters.

Throughout nearly a two months intense diagnostics, maritime experts executed more than 120 different tests designed to evaluate everything from Khankendi’s engine and propulsion performance to her dynamic positioning, navigation systems, cabin acoustics as well as the offshore capabilities. The completion of the sea-trials marked another major milestone bringing Baku Shipyard to the imminent delivery of vessel to BP. The SCV is back at the shipyard now for the finishing touches in readiness of the naming ceremony scheduled early September 2017.

“Khankendi” is planned to perform subsea construction activities on the Shah Deniz field for the next ten years.
