Press release of Press Service of “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping” Closed Joint-Stock Company
During the event the participants addressed reports on the topic “Attention to safety and health issues in the Shipping Company”, “Repeating incidents”, “Why incidents should be investigated”, “Educational leadership”, “Positive influence of electronization”, and shared their views.
First, the Head of the QHSE Department Alakbar Azizli made a presentation. He noted that the safety issues in the Shipping Company are constantly in the focus of special attention. It was stressed that the Shipping Company has strict safety requirements, which every employee must observe.
Talking about the positive aspect of electronization Alekber Azizli recalled the installation of electronic maps on vessels to ensure the safety of navigation. According to him, such innovations will be introduced in the future.
Deputy Head of the Maritime Safety Department Rovshan Damirov informed the participants about the recurring incidents. It was noted that, due to the implemented measures, the number of such incidents has significantly decreased over the past four years. He highlighted the significant results and achievements.
Adviser to the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company Titos Giannakakis in his speech touched the issues of exemplary leadership. Professional captain in such issue shared his personal experience with the participants. He noted that the availability of leadership abilities for each seaman is one of the main conditions that can play a decisive role in the current difficult situations.
Along with this, Titos Giannakakis spoke about the importance of trainings and regularly listening to the regular trainings and classes with the initiative of the Chairman of the Shipping Company Rauf Veliyev.
Rauf Veliyev, the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company pointed out that all personnel should work for a more detailed study of maritime culture and share their knowledge with their colleagues, since ensuring safe working conditions is the company`s main responsibility.
At the end of the meeting, videos were shown, other reports were presented, relevant opinions and suggestions were considered.
The participants of the event also visited the shipyard “Bibi-Heybat” of the Shipping Company, where they got acquainted with the conditions of labor safety, gave their suggestions and notes.
